The Latest IELTS News
The IELTS test owners fund a number of studies each year into the linguistics and language of the IELTS test.
Their latest published paper outlines the differences in grammatical accuracy that distinguish the band levels in the Speaking test.
Researchers listened to 73 test recordings as part of the study. The result is a useful outline of the grammatical structures that you should be using at each band level.
As well as listing the kind of structures that you should use, the study also provides examples of typical errors – making this an invaluable resource for you.
Two of the patterns detected were that candidates achieving bands 7 and upwards tended to be more proficient at the irregular past and third person -s.
