From classroom visits to new resources and success stories, this month has been packed with fresh insights for IELTS learners.
Whether you’re a student aiming for university entry, a professional preparing for migration, or a teacher supporting international pupils, you’ll find practical lessons and real experiences here to guide the journey.

Where We’ve Been
York Calling: IELTS and Student Life
This month I visited a group of international students based in York who are preparing to enter University. Their biggest challenge? Balancing academic pressure with the need to develop spoken fluency.
Many students arrive with strong grammar and writing skills, but spoken English is where confidence falters. What struck me was how schools are increasingly realising that IELTS success isn’t just about test technique—it’s about helping students speak naturally in daily life. Whether in the classroom, at a café, or in a university interview, fluency and confidence are often the missing pieces.
For anyone planning to study in the UK, remember: IELTS is more than an entry requirement. It’s a stepping stone to thriving in a new culture, and the sooner you build spoken confidence, the smoother your transition will be.

Social Media: LinkedIn & Twitter Highlights
This month, we’ve been active on our blog and LinkedIn and Twitter, sharing practical tips and sparking conversations that link real-world issues to IELTS themes.
On LinkedIn
Our posts reached not just students, but also education agents and schools. Highlights included:
- The Ocado Story & IELTS Coaching – A post comparing missed deliveries with IELTS preparation. Just as a shopping service that forgets key items fails its purpose, IELTS training that cuts corners wastes time. The message: we save students time, not pennies.
- The £1,000 Competition Story – I shared how I once won £1,000 in a radio competition that didn’t even exist. It was a prank that turned real — and my point was that IELTS can feel the same. Even when success seems impossible, with the right guidance and belief, big breakthroughs can still happen.
These sparked strong engagement from agents, teachers, and parents, who recognise that IELTS success is part of a wider educational journey.

We kept up our tradition of “mini lessons in disguise,” connecting IELTS themes with current events and lifestyle topics.
Here are some of them…
- TfL & Public Behaviour – London’s new campaign against loudspeakers on the Tube gave us a perfect Speaking Part 3 scenario: should public etiquette be enforced by law?
- Olympics & IELTS Motivation – Using stories of athletes’ persistence to inspire students about resilience in exam prep.
- Home Design & IELTS Vocabulary – A lighter thread on how common IELTS Speaking topics, like describing your home, can link to real trends in interior design.
- Study & Sleep Patterns – Building on new research showing why rest—not cramming—leads to sharper thinking in IELTS Writing.
Each thread included vocabulary sets, question prompts, and examiner-style insights to help students connect ideas to IELTS Speaking and Writing practice.

Bushra’s First-Time Success
Some students face IELTS multiple times before finding the right approach. Bushra took a different path—she invested in focused preparation before even booking the test. With just 10 lessons, she walked into her first IELTS exam and achieved a Band 7.5 overall.
Here’s what she had to say:
“Andy coached me to get a band 7.5 in my first time testing IELTS. With only 10 lessons I managed to do that with ease. I don’t think I would’ve been able to do it without his help. Definitely worth my time and money.” — Bushra, S.
Bushra’s journey is a reminder that the right guidance from the start can save months—or even years—of frustration.
Is Bushra’s dream your dream? Would you like to achieve his level of success in 2025? We can help!
