IELTS Newsletter: What We've Done

What have we been up to?

In July, we were asked to participate in research by Cambridge into our experience of working online with IELTS during the Covid pandemic.

We like to be on the frontline of academic research and technology!

We have also been busy setting up a new membership area where our students can form a single community. Just click on the Membership link in the top menu to learn more.

Work on our new ebook about IELTS Writing Task 2 has continued apace, and we are about to set a publication date. This is a very comprehensive book, and we are sure it will be of great help to all who read it.

Website News

In July, we continued to publish new editions of our several series.

We published a new model letter. This one was semi-formal and addressed to a cleaner who had done a bad job.

Our Task 2 essay tackled the question of whether it is better to watch live performances in person or on TV

Finally, we published another edition of our Spotlight Vocabulary series. This edition covers topics related to food and globalisation, social media, robots, work, urban to rural migration, space travel, clothing, and gadgets.

We have also started a new membership area linked-to in our top menu— more about this in future issues of School’s Out.

Student Spotlight

This month we are shining the spotlight on Gul from Turkey. Gul grappled with the test for a long time — and with our help and a lot of hard work and perseverance on her side — succeeded!

Here is what she had to say…

Proper English for life

Andy is one of the best teachers I have seen in my life. With his help and advice about grammar, I learned how to correct my mistakes and how to avoid making a mistake. Having in-depth knowledge about the IELTS exam, he did not only make grammar corrections, but he also taught me good strategies for increasing my writing score to the next band. I scored 7.5 in IELTS writing and I can finally apply for the educational programme I desired for long!
